Bill Long: Market Strategist, Manager Selection, Portfolio Construction

Bill brings to ReThink a broad range of experience in economics, market analysis, hedge fund strategies and options trading.

After a career at the Dallas Fed, he landed at Bear Stearns to work with the Chief Institutional Strategist.  In the thick of things prior to the global financial crisis, he reported on the markets from the point of view of a variety of the Bear trading desks including US Treasury bonds, fixed income derivatives, structured products, and equity and currency markets.

When the crisis hit, he landed as Director of Manager Research at a well-known fund of hedge funds and over the course of five years, evaluated the strategies of over 250 hedge funds. He currently serves as the Chairperson of the Alternative Investment Committee for NYSSA – the New York Society of Security Analysts.

Bill brings to ReThink’s clients an insightful view on market developments and portfolio construction. His ability to translate complex concepts and to think on his feet in any situation make him an invaluable resource.

Prior to all of this, Bill received his Master of Arts in Economics from Duke University and a Bachelor of Arts with Honors in Economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
