Bill Long, FRM: Market Strategist, Manager Selection, Portfolio Construction

Bill brings to ReThink a broad range of experience in economics, market analysis, trading and hedge fund strategies.

After 14 years with the Dallas Federal Reserve and a technology and economics stint at KPMG, Bill took a pivotal position between the fixed income trading desks and the Chief Institutional Strategist at Bear Stearns.  He regularly translated insights and data from the trading desks for US Treasury bonds, fixed income derivatives, structured products, equity and currency markets for Bear’s largest corporate clients. In 2008, Bill became the Director of Manager Research at a well-known fund of hedge funds and over the course of five years, evaluated the strategies of over 250 hedge funds.

In 2012, Bill joined ReThink to bring clients a comprehensive and nuanced view on market developments and portfolio construction. He is noted for his ability to explain complex concepts and to “think on his feet”.

Bill currently serves as the Chairperson of the Alternative Investment Committee for NYSSA – the New York Society of Security Analysts. He has recently been granted the FRM or Financial Risk Manager designation from the Global Association of Risk Professionals and has also passed the Level One  of the CAIA. Bill holds his Master’s  in Economics from Duke University and a BA with Honors from UNC Chapel Hill.
